VMware server antics: openSUSE 11.2 i.e. new kernels…

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Apparently it is hard to keep up with kernel developments. VMware has problems. Latest one does not work with openSUSE 11.2 kernel (and Ubuntu kernels, and other kernels). I guess that’s the difference between supporting enterprise versions (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, SLES, RHEL) and not the newer (not to say leading edge) distributions (Ubuntu > 8.04, [...]

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

This is actually (apparently) not specific to my install: but bluetooth in KDE 3.5 is broken (note the condition here: it works on the command line, but not in KDE 3.5). I guess KDE 3 is “officially” orphaned – at least that’s what some of the (very useless) comments in the openSUSE forums/bug database imply. [...]

Installing OpenSUSE 11.1 on Lenovo X200T , part 2

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Tablet works: on my tablet, the digitizer is not at /dev/ttyS0, but at /dev/ttyS4. Changing that in Sax2 or /etc/X11/xorg.conf works The onscreen keyboard (xvkbd) does not seem to work. It reacts on the pen, but doesn’t do anything. Rotation doesn’t work out of the box. XRandR will flip the screen, but not rotate it [...]
