Slimserver 7 … er.. Squeezecenter 7… er no, Squeezecenter 7.1
The Slimserver/Squeezecenter software has in the past been really easy to install. Get the RPM, pop it into your favorite RPM distribution, and run. Only problem way back when were start-up scripts – to run under SuSE, you had to trawl the forums a bit, or hack yourself a proper init script, because that was different from RedHat.

openSUSE 11.0 ntp troubles
Installed openSUSE 11 on a VMware VM and on my spare laptop. In both cases, NTP acts strangely. Takes ages to come back from its attempt to contact the server. This is true on both the laptop and the VM (server). The logs do not reveal much, but on the VM, actually setting the time failed. On the laptop, the actual problem is typically hidden away under the GUI.
