More control over PDF in OpenOffice
This should turn out to be useful: extendedPDF: Professional PDF controls for OpenOffice.org | Linux Journal. Have a look at the install instructions, they are very detailed, and work (so far…).

I take that back. It bombs, and I ended having to re-install OpenOffice on my desktop machine from scratch.
