Rescuing disks again
I do recycle disks, many times. As long as the disk works… Now it bit me. Turns out that the system disk of my workstation, the one I had just upgraded to openSUSE 10.3, is 7 years old… and failing. On a side-note, S.M.A.R.T warned me, but when running ‘smartctl -H’ directly, told me the drive was healthy…
Anyway, to recover the contents, I remembered a dd-enhancing tool that helped me with the last failed disk. Just couldn’t find it again, nor could I find the right search term. Well, I found it: dd_rhelp.
